Bitumen

EN 12591 Paving Grade Bitumen for Construction and Infrastructure

Bitumen is a highly viscous, dark-colored semi-solid hydrocarbon produced as the residual fraction from crude oil vacuum distillation. It is the primary binding agent in asphalt concrete used for road paving, airport runways, parking lots, and other pavement surfaces. Its waterproofing and adhesive properties also make it essential for roofing membranes, building foundation protection, and pipe coating applications.

Intentions Institute Inc. supplies EN 12591 compliant paving grade bitumen in the most commonly specified penetration grades: 40/50, 60/70, 80/100, and 100/150. Each grade is defined by its penetration value (measured in tenths of a millimeter at 25 degrees Celsius) and softening point, which together determine the grade's suitability for specific climatic conditions and traffic loading scenarios.

Harder grades (40/50, 60/70) are used in hot climates and high-traffic road surfaces where resistance to deformation under load is critical. Softer grades (80/100, 100/150) are preferred in cold climates where flexibility at low temperatures prevents cracking. We also supply polymer-modified bitumen (PMB) and oxidized (blown) bitumen for specialized industrial applications on a project-by-project basis.

Our bitumen is sourced from refineries in Iran, Iraq, and Singapore, with supply available in bulk (heated tanker vessels) and drummed packaging (new steel drums, 150 to 200 kg each). Delivery terms include FOB, CIF, and CFR, with logistics coordination for heated storage, terminal handling, and drum packaging at origin.
